Electrical Design Engineer (Building Services) (Ref: 16323JB)

Our client designs, installs and operates utility services for the public and private sectors, and much of that work involves the provision of electrical engineering solutions, particularly in the fields of CHP and standby electrical power. They are seeking a qualified and experienced electrical engineer who can influence their work on the specification and implementation of power generation and distribution schemes, and support their operational needs for HV and LV electrical systems. This is a 'hands-on' role for someone capable of designing and managing electrical work for the company whilst contributing to operational matters on a day-to-day basis. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager in charge of major projects development your primary duties: · Carry out designs for CHP and standby power generation schemes in accordance with company policy.
· Supervision of installation and commissioning activities to ensure that schemes are installed as designed, and handed over complete and working correctly.
· Company Authorising Engineer for HV and LV electrical work.
· Troubleshooting and auditing of HV and LV installations.
· Operational support to Area staff for electrical matters.
· Liaison with sister companies, customers, RECs and industry bodies (DoH, MOD, training organisations, NICEIC etc.)

Experience and qualifications: Preferably a Chartered Electrical Engineer, with a good level of post-qualification experience.
Knowledge of electrical generation, protection and distribution systems up to 36kV.
Familiar with CHP installations up to 30MW, including engines, and steam and gas turbines.
Familiar with standby electrical installations up to 5MW.
NHS or industrial background would be useful.
Experience as an HV/LV Authorised Person and Authorising Engineer.

Skills: Ability to influence Senior Management on complex technical issues.
Robust analytical and reporting ability for internal and external processes.
Audit experience.
Computer literate with usual software knowledge for the industry.
Full clean driving licence.
